Adaptation comes from a stimulus that repeats. One hard session gives a stimulus and then days of recovery. A session you can repeat gives a smaller stimulus, but again, and again, and that stacking is where the effect comes from.
Most people pick the heaviest version they can handle at the start. That is understandable, because it feels like taking it seriously. The pinch comes in week three, when life asks something back and the schedule has no room for it.
A plan you still manage in your busiest week is not a low plan. It is the plan that lasts the year.
So do not look at what you can handle on your best day. Look at what is left on your worst, and build on that. Anything above it is a bonus, and bonuses are allowed.
