The palm of your hand as a measure

Weighing is accurate and almost nobody keeps it up. There is a measure you carry with you everywhere.
Weighing is accurate and almost nobody keeps it up. You need a scale for it, a moment, and a head that feels like it. After two weeks the thing is back in the cupboard.
There is a measure you carry with you everywhere.
Your palm without the fingers is your portion of protein. Meat, fish, tofu, pulses. Your fist is your portion of carbohydrates, so rice, pasta or potato. Your thumb is your fat: oil, nuts, cheese. And vegetables you measure with two open hands, because there is no need to be careful with those.
The nice part is that this measure grows with you. A big man has big hands and a bigger need. A smaller woman has smaller hands and a smaller need. The proportion works out by itself, without anyone having to calculate anything for you.
It is not exact, and it is not meant to be. An estimate you make every day is worth more than a measurement you take three times and then drop.
Start with one meal. Put your hand next to it, see what you see, and change what you want to change. The rest follows on its own.
